On 24th May 2010 the newly appointed coalition Government announced that it intends to phase out CTF payments to newly born children. At this stage it is also understood that the product could well be closed to new investors, however it is expected that the industry will lobby hard to prevent this from happening. It should be pointed out that legislation is required to implement the Government’s intentions and until that legislation is in place Child Trust Funds will continue as usual.
