Witan, through Jump, the Savings Plan for Children, supports Tommy’s Campaign which funds a national programme of medical research, education and information into the field of miscarriage, still birth and premature birth. When a pregnancy fails or a baby dies, the families affected are devastated and often have a desperate need to know why.

Frustrated at the lack of research that meant they could rarely answer this question, two obstetricians working in the maternity unit at St Thomas' Hospital in London were inspired to start fundraising for more research into pregnancy problems. That was 1992. Today, Tommy’s leads the way in maternal and foetal research in the UK. To give every baby the best chance of being born healthy, they work to fund medical research into the causes of premature birth, stillbirth and miscarriage.

They currently fund three hospital-based research centres in the UK. Tommy’s also feels it’s important to raise awareness of the facts and to provide free, accurate and up-to-date information for medical professionals and parents-to-be. This includes a dedicated free-phone telephone midwife service, a comprehensive website and free books and leaflets dedicated to promoting health in pregnancy and pre-pregnancy.

Tommy's believes every parent has the right to a healthy pregnancy and baby. Their target is to halve the number of babies that die during pregnancy or birth by 2030. We are proud to support their vital work. To find out more, or to make a donation, visit: www.tommys.org.
